Club Mexicana sets new September opening date

Club Mexicana sets new September opening date

Like many others, Club Mexicana planned to open earlier this year. So, we’re happy to hear that the Mexican-Californian restaurant, founded by Meriel Armitage, will launch its first permanent site on 1 September.

Five years on from starting off as a food market, Club Mexicana, which aims to redefine vegan food, has enjoyed successful residencies in Hackney and in vegan pub The Spread Eagle. The food is inspired by the roadside stools of Los Angeles and Mexico City, so guests can expect tacos, burritos and other street food classics, plus margaritas, other cocktails, beers and straight-up tequila.

New dishes have been added to the menu, including chickn’n’avocado and ‘chorizo’ with pickled jalapenos. The highlight, though, is the al pastor spit, a shawarma-style dish made with seitan and a secret marinade.

The interiors at the Kingly Court site will feature Club Mexicana’s signature neon signs and colourful artwork by emerging London artists.
