Honey slices with nuts

Honey slices with nuts

Honey and nuts make a perfect combination that you will never get tired of. Slices of honey dough, a nut crust and butter cream, these are honey slices with nuts that you simply have to try. The preparation is a bit more laborious, but the result is all the more wonderful.

Ingredients · Servings 1 sheet
  • Dough:
  • 500 g plain flour
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 100 g Power
  • Walnut crust:
  • 300 g chopped walnuts
  • 80 g caster sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 120 g butter
  • Cream:
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of cornstarch (or cornstarch)
  • 200 g softened butter
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • powdered sugar (to taste)
  • Further:
  • butter for greasing the baking sheet
  • coarse flour for dusting the baking sheet
Method · 1 h 50 min
  1. Grease two baking sheets with butter and sprinkle with coarse flour. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Prepare the dough. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough by hand (or in a mixer) and divide into two parts.
  3. Roll out the first piece of dough to the size of the baking sheet, transfer it to the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Roll out the second piece of dough to the size of the baking sheet and transfer it to the second baking sheet.
  5. Prepare the walnut crust. Place all ingredients in a pan and let melt, stirring constantly. Slowly toast the nuts, being careful not to burn them.
  6. Spread the second, prepared piece of dough with the walnut crust and bake in the oven. Bake until golden brown at 180 °C for about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on it during baking.
  7. Let both cakes cool and prepare the cream.
  8. Heat the milk and sugar in a saucepan. Add the cornstarch mixed with a little water. Stir and boil until thick. Set aside and let cool slightly.
  9. Gradually whisk the softened butter into the cooled mixture.
  10. Spread the cream on a dry pancake (without the nut crust) and place the second pancake with the nut crust on top of the cream (nuts facing up).
  11. Let the finished slices rest in the refrigerator before serving.
