Garlic with cheese

Garlic with cheese

Are you looking for a miracle soup that will get you back on your feet? Garlic literally kicks up your body, and it's also simple and quick to prepare. It comes in many forms, but this recipe proves that there is power in simplicity. You can top it with croutons and cheese.

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 1 small onion
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic (to taste)
  • 4 potatoes
  • 1-2 tablespoons lard
  • meat broth (or vegetable broth)
  • salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • crushed cumin
  • marjoram
  • To finish:
  • bread croutons
  • grated hard cheese
Method · 35 min
  1. Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely (you can also cut the garlic into slices or press it).
  2. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  3. Heat the lard in a pot and let the onion glaze. Add the garlic, sauté briefly and pour over the hot broth.
  4. Add the potatoes and, if necessary, salt the soup (depending on the saltiness of the broth). Season with pepper and add the crushed cumin.
  5. Cook the garlic until the potatoes are soft (about 15 minutes).
  6. At the end, add the crushed marjoram to the soup. For a stronger garlic effect, you can add 3 cloves of freshly pressed garlic.
  7. Hot garlic is best served in bowls, sprinkled with bread croutons and grated cheese.
