Cucumber sauce with dill

Delicious sauce with cucumbers and dill is like two in one. For lovers of cucumber and dill sauce. Be sure to prepare your favorite side dish. Whether potatoes or dumplings, both are suitable. You also have the choice between a hard-boiled egg or a piece of beef.

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (level)
  • 5-6 cucumbers (sweet and sour)
  • 1 cup of broth
  • 100 ml cream
  • milk as needed
  • 1-2 tablespoons chopped dill (fresh if possible)
  • 4 balls of allspice
  • salt
  • ground pepper
Method · 30 min
  1. Let the finely chopped onion in the butter soften, add the spices. Sprinkle with sugar and let it caramelize slightly. Add the flour and sauté for a few minutes.
  2. Pour the formed roux with cold broth, or add milk if necessary. Add the cucumbers, cut into small cubes, to the sauce and cook for 10-15 minutes. Just before the end, add the cream mixed with a little sauce and dill.
  3. Heat the sauce briefly. Finally, season with pepper, sugar or pickled cucumbers. Serve with new potatoes, dumplings, boiled eggs or beef.
