Savory bagel pizza from the oven for your next breakfast

Savory bagel pizza from the oven for your next breakfast

Who doesn't sometimes dream of starting the day with a warm slice of pizza? Instead of resorting to cold leftovers from the night before, you can easily prepare a fresh version. The secret lies in a classic bread roll that you probably already have in your bread basket: bagels.

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 4 Bagels
  • 150 g cream cheese
  • 80g mini salami slices
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 150 g grated cheese (e.g. mozzarella)
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
Method · 20 min
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) using conventional oven settings (top and bottom heat). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the bagels in half.
  3. Spread each bagel half evenly with cream cheese.
  4. Top the halves with the mini salami slices.
  5. Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper evenly over it.
  6. Generously spread the grated cheese over all halves.
  7. Bake the mini pizzas for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden yellow.
  8. Take the tray out of the oven, garnish the hot pizzas with fresh basil and enjoy them immediately.

Delicious breakfast hit: Bagel pizza

If you're craving a comforting breakfast, this quick bagel pizza recipe is just what you need. It requires minimal preparation and fits perfectly into your daily routine. Simply slice the bagels horizontally in half. Because bagel dough is naturally dense and slightly chewy, it doesn't get soggy as quickly during baking as regular toast. The crust becomes beautifully crispy under the heat, while the inside remains soft enough to enjoy.

For a classic breakfast feel, we'll skip the traditional tomato sauce and instead use a generous layer of cream cheese. The cream cheese will warm slightly in the oven, creating a creamy base between the pastry and the other ingredients. On top of this, arrange slices of mini salami. A good pinch of freshly ground black pepper perfectly complements the savory notes of the meat and cheese. Finally, cover everything with grated mozzarella. This cheese is ideal for topping because it melts evenly, forming a golden-brown crust.

Once the halves are topped, they go straight into the hot oven. When you take the tray out of the oven, the whole kitchen will smell of warm bread and melted cheese. Before serving, scatter fresh basil leaves over the hot surface.

Although this dish is meant to brighten your mornings, you're certainly not limited to the early hours. These small, savory bites are equally suitable as a quick lunch with a crisp green salad or as a warming dinner after a long day.

Equally delicious: these pizza snails and a beetroot and pumpkin pizza.
