Lenten honey gingerbread

Lenten honey gingerbread

Lenten honey gingerbread is a wonderful pastry that can be served with milk, a cup of tea, or coffee. During Lent, these gingerbread cookies will add variety to your menu. Making them is quite simple, and even a novice cook can handle it. You can use lemon zest instead of orange zest, or omit it altogether.

To prepare Lenten gingerbread with honey and spices, prepare the necessary products from the list.

Bring the water to a boil, remove from heat, add sugar, and stir well. Add honey when the water has cooled slightly. Also add refined oil and a pinch of salt.

Prepare a bowl for mixing the gingerbread dough. Pour the liquid mixture into it and sift in half the flour and baking powder.

Mix the dough, add orange zest, vanilla sugar, cinnamon and ginger.

We begin to add the remaining flour in parts.

We will get a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Form 15 identical balls of dough for the future gingerbread cookies. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the gingerbread cookies on it. Lightly press the gingerbread cookies with the palm of your hand. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake the Lenten honey gingerbread cookies for 20-25 minutes.

For the syrup, combine water and sugar in a saucepan, place on the heat and let the sugar dissolve.

Remove the finished gingerbread from the oven, dip it in hot syrup and place it on a plate.

Wait until the syrup dries, and then serve the honey gingerbread. They're delicious served with milk.

Bon appetit!
