Couscous and ground poppy seed bun

Couscous and ground poppy seed bun

We prepare the couscous bun with ground poppy seeds, apple, raisins and walnuts, and honey adds sweetness. We first soak the couscous in cold water, then mix it with the other ingredients and bake it in a mold.

Ingredients · Servings 1 where
  • 1 cup couscous
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 cup ground poppy seeds
  • 1 large apple
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 handful of raisins
  • 1 handful of chopped walnuts
Method · 50 min
  1. Cover the couscous with cold water and let it stand for 90 minutes. If there is any excess water left after soaking, let the couscous drain in a sieve.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 °C in advance. Line a round baking dish with baking paper.
  3. Peel the apple, remove the core and grate finely.
  4. Add ground poppy seeds, grated apple, milk, eggs, honey, raisins, chopped walnuts and ground cinnamon to the soaked couscous. Mix everything thoroughly.
  5. Pour the dough into the prepared pan, smooth the surface, and bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes.
  6. Remove the baked bun from the oven and let it cool. Then cut it into portions and serve.
