point

Have you ever washed chicken with water? You might think that washing it with water removes the slime and makes it seem cleaner, but you should avoid washing raw chicken with water as it can cause food poisoning. When you wash food under running tap water, some water will inevitably splash around. Chicken may contain bacteria that can cause food poisoning if consumed in an undercooked state, and washing it with water could cause those bacteria to splash onto cooking utensils or other ingredients. You could end up ingesting those bacteria. If you're concerned about the slime on the chicken, it's recommended to wipe it with a paper towel.
