A phenomenal puff pastry appetizer. Your guests will eat as much as you make

This puff pastry appetizer—mushroom and cheese rolls—is a perfect dish for any occasion. They're perfect as a party appetizer, but they're also a great alternative to classic pastries. They're incredibly simple and quick to prepare. So if you suddenly run out of snacks, don't worry!

Ingredients · Servings 3-4 people
  • 2 packages of puff pastry
  • 450 g mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 250 g mozzarella
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg for brushing
Method · 45 min
  1. Clean and finely chop the mushrooms. Chop the onion.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan. Add the onion and sauté until translucent. Add the mushrooms and sauté until nicely browned and the water has evaporated.
  3. Add mayonnaise, salt, pepper, pressed garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until combined.
  4. Unroll the puff pastry. Spread half of the mushroom filling thinly on it. Sprinkle with half of the grated mozzarella. Roll the dough up quite tightly along the long side. Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry and the remaining ingredients.
  5. Brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg, then cut them into slices about 3 cm thick.
  6. Place the puff pastry slices horizontally on a baking tray lined with silicone paper.
  7. Place the dish in an oven preheated to 190 degrees Celsius. Bake for 30-40 minutes, until nicely golden brown.
  8. Serve puff pastry snacks warm, preferably immediately after preparation.
