Slow-roasted goose with apples and honey

Slow-roasted goose with apples and honey is a delicacy that combines the tenderness of goose meat with the sweet taste of caramelized apples and honey. This traditional dish is baked for long hours to make the meat juicy and crispy.

  • 1 medium-sized goose
  • 4 apples
  • 100 g butter
  • 60 g liquid honey
  • salt
  • crushed cumin

  1. Clean, wash, dry and salt and pepper the goose inside and out. Place one cored apple and peeled onion inside. Halve the other apples and set aside.
  2. Place the goose in a high baking dish (you can also place it on the grid that is part of the baking dish), add a little water and bake under the lid for 120-130 minutes at 170 °C. After this time, remove the lid and grid and drain the roast.
  3. Then brush the goose with a mixture of honey and melted butter, add the sliced ​​apples and bake for another 90 minutes until golden brown. Pour the baking liquid over the goose during baking. If a lot of liquid is baked, partially drain it.
  4. Serve with bread or potato dumplings, red (or white) cabbage and apples.
