Cmunda after the chapel

Cmunda po kaplicku, also known as potato pancake stuffed with smoked meat, is a popular old Slovak dish. Traditionally, it was baked on a stove, dry or in lard, and was a dish of the poor. Now everyone can enjoy it and it doesn't take much effort to prepare.

Ingredients · Servings 3
  • 500g potatoes
  • 100-120 g of coarse flour
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 120 ml hot milk
  • 2 eggs
  • salt
  • ground pepper
  • marjoram
  • 300 g smoked meat
  • frying oil
Method · 50 min
  1. Peel and grate the raw potatoes.
  2. Add hot milk, mashed garlic, egg, flour, salt, pepper, ground marjoram and mix everything together.
  3. Cut the smoked meat into slices about 0.5 cm thick.
  4. Heat a little oil in a frying pan, spoon in the potato dough, place a slice of meat on top, and add more potato dough.
  5. Fry slowly on both sides.
  6. Serve with stewed cabbage.
