Breadsticks made in a home bakery

Breadsticks made in a home bakery

Step 1: I poured milk and melted and cooled butter into the container from the home bakery. I added the egg yolk and plain flour. In the well I made in the flour, I crumbled the yeast, which I sprinkled with a teaspoon of granulated sugar.

Ingredients · Servings 16 peelers
  • 400 g plain flour
  • 70 g caster sugar
  • 180 ml milk
  • 70 g melted butter
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 egg for brushing the shells
  • 22 g yeast
  • a pinch of salt
Method · 1 h 50 min
  1. I poured milk and melted and cooled butter into the container from the home bakery. I added the egg yolk and plain flour. In the well that I made in the flour, I crumbled the yeast, which I sprinkled with a teaspoon of caster sugar. I poured the remaining sugar into one corner and put a pinch of salt in the other corner of the container.
  2. I put the bowl in the bread maker and selected the Dough program. I turned the bread maker on and in an hour and a half I had a beautifully shaped and risen dough. I turned it out onto the work surface, kneaded it briefly and divided it into 4 parts. I rolled each loaf of dough into a circle and divided it into 4 more parts. I rolled each part out again and rolled the dough from the wider side to form a loaf.
  3. I placed the peels at sufficient intervals on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and let them rise for a while at room temperature.
  4. In the meantime, I beat an egg and brushed the peels with it. Finally, I sprinkled them with poppy seeds.
  5. I put the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 180°C and baked the peels for 20 minutes. After baking, I let them cool on a wire rack.
  6. Prepare your favorite coffee or tea with the peels, spread them with your favorite jam, and enjoy.
