Minced meat gratin with potatoes and white wine

Minced meat gratin with potatoes and white wine

An excellent party dish that is easy to prepare and takes care of itself in the oven. A gratin with minced meat, white wine, onions and potatoes - it doesn't have to be more difficult than that.

Ingredients · Servings 4-6
  • 1 kg floury potatoes
  • 700 g minced beef
  • 2 yellow onions, finely chopped
  • butter, for frying
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour
  • 2 cans finely crushed tomatoes
  • 2 meat bouillon cubes
  • 2 tsk salt
  • 1 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 3 dl white wine
  • salt
  • black pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 dl whipping cream
  • 200 g Västerbottensost, grated
Method
  1. Set the oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Peel and chop the onion. Sauté it in butter in a frying pan until soft.
  3. Add the minced meat and brown it.
  4. Sprinkle with wheat flour and stir.
  5. Pour everything into a larger saucepan. Pour in the wine and add the crushed tomatoes, crumbled stock cube, salt, black pepper and grated nutmeg. Let cook for about 10 minutes.
  6. Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices.
  7. Grease the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Layer the minced meat sauce and potatoes in the dish, salt and pepper between layers. Finish with a layer of minced meat sauce, pour on the cream and sprinkle with grated Västerbottensost cheese.
  8. Place in the oven for about 60 minutes until the potatoes are soft all the way through. Test with a skewer.
  9. Remove the gratin and let it cool slightly before cutting into pieces to serve.
  10. Serve the potato gratin with crème fraiche on the side and a green salad with tomato and cucumber in vinaigrette.
