Aperol Spritz: the easy and refreshing Italian recipe

Aperol Spritz: the easy and refreshing Italian recipe

Ingredients · Servings 1
  • 6 cl Prosecco
  • 4 cl Aperol
  • 2 cl Sparkling water
  • 1 Orange
  • 2 Ice Cubes
Method · 5 min
  1. Choose a large wine glass or a balloon glass, ideal for showcasing the Aperol Spritz and keeping it chilled. Fill the glass generously with ice cubes to chill it thoroughly without diluting the cocktail too much. If your orange is whole, cut a nice slice, thin enough to be elegant but plump enough to subtly flavor the drink.
  2. First, pour 6 cl of chilled prosecco over the ice cubes. This initial addition helps preserve the bubbles and ensures a harmonious mix from the start. Be careful to pour gently against the side of the glass to prevent the foam from rising too quickly. This base gives the cocktail its lightness, sparkle, and characteristic Italian touch.
  3. Next, add 4 cl of Aperol to the glass. Its beautiful orange color will gradually diffuse upon contact with the prosecco and ice cubes, creating the iconic visual appearance of a Spritz. You can pour it slowly to preserve the lovely nuances in the glass. The Aperol brings its gentle bitterness, citrus notes, and all the character of this classic aperitif.
  4. Add 2 cl of sparkling water to the mixture for an extra touch of freshness and vibrancy. Pour it in gently so as not to break the effervescence of the prosecco. If you wish, stir very lightly with a spoon, just enough to blend the flavors without deflating the bubbles. This small amount perfectly balances the strength of the Aperol.
  5. Slide the orange slice into the glass or place it on the rim for a simple and elegant presentation. It subtly perfumes the cocktail while enhancing its fruity notes and sunny appearance. Serve immediately, while the ice cubes are still firm and the bubbles are still lively. Your Aperol Spritz is best enjoyed very chilled, as an aperitif, for a convivial and refreshing moment.
