After breakfast at the hotel, the beautiful old town is explored. Konstanz boasts a rich cultural life: the Konstanz Theatre, for example, has a long tradition, and today the small venue often stages exciting and sometimes even thought-provoking plays. This is typical of Konstanz; the city may seem tranquil with its old alleyways, but the university gives it a vibrant, youthful flair. This is evident, for instance, in Neugasse, where many small, independent shops are currently opening.

The offerings at the Riebel family's establishment are more hearty: Stefan and Urs Riebel are among the last professional fishermen on Lake Constance, and so the simple but very popular bistro offers a variety of dishes at its beer benches.
