Get a Sneak Peek at Sky Blu Rooftop Bar in the Design District

The list of places with the best view in Dallas is about to get a new addition. Sky Blu, a rooftop bar at Tru by Hilton Dallas Market Center, is opening on Thursday, June 23.

If you’d like a glass of something new, Sky Blu also offers half a dozen cocktails. At the opening, these include some twists on classics like iterations of an Old Fashioned, a margarita, and a passionfruit rickey. But there are also some inventive options, such as the Normal Clothes, made with mezcal, charred pineapple, lemon, and habanero shrub or the Tally Man, made with Maker’s Mark, Plantation dark rum, Averna amaro, and a banana liqueur.

Jump into summer in the Cedars

Lee Harvey’s, the finest dive bar on the South side of Dallas, opened its swim club, Lee Harvey’s Dive In, down in the Cedars over the weekend. And while another fantastic pool to beat the summer heat is always welcome, the place also has food and cocktails with table service. The snacks menu is extensive, ranging from smaller bites like hummus and ceviche to salads to full-on plates with pulled pork sliders and quesadillas (and, of course, a hot dog). The full bar offers classic cocktails and beer.

There’s a buzz about the Beehive

An exceedingly cute spot opened up Downtown. The Beehive is from the owners of, and downstairs in the same building as, Sky Blossom Rooftop. The space is dripping in crystal chandeliers and midcentury modern glass light fixtures. It serves New American cuisine crafted by chef Thiago Pretto, who matriculated from Le Cordon Bleu. Its Bee Naughty Sprtiz cocktail, pictured below, is an Instagram-obsession-worthy drink made with Prosecco, blue Curacao, orgeat syrup, elderflower liqueur, and lime. There is a whole menu of great sounding dishes, from the “Volcano Shrimp Balls” to the pear salad to a flambe banana tart for dessert.
