This magical duo of ingredients transforms a simple cake into a true weekend delight

On weekends, we love to bake a cake that requires little effort but instantly evokes the feeling of a truly comforting afternoon treat. Cake is one of those reliable choices that can be served with coffee, hot chocolate, or simply enjoyed while still warm.

Pear and chocolate, the combination that makes all the difference

To make this cake, the base is very simple. Two eggs are mixed with 100 grams of sugar until the mixture turns pale, then 100 ml of oil and the same amount of milk are added. Next, 240 grams of flour, a packet of baking powder, and 50 grams of chocolate chips are incorporated. The resulting batter should be smooth before adding the fruit. The two pears are peeled and then sliced. A loaf pan is buttered and floured before a first layer of batter is poured in. A few pear slices are then arranged on top, followed by the rest of the batter. The remaining fruit slices are added to complete the assembly. This method of distributing the pears ensures they are present in several places throughout the cake after baking, rather than just on the surface.

A simple cake to prepare for afternoon tea.

The cake is then baked in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 45 minutes. With 25 minutes of preparation time, it takes about an hour and ten minutes to enjoy the finished product. The cake is distinguished by the contrast between the sweetness of the pear, the moistness of the batter, and the chocolatey touches distributed throughout each slice. The fruit also retains a pleasant texture after baking, preventing the cake from being too dry. The chocolate chips add a delightful touch to every bite. A very simple combination, yet effective enough to make you want to bake this cake again for your next family gathering. This cake has the particular advantage of remaining very simple despite its indulgent nature. No need for complicated techniques or hard-to-find ingredients: eggs, sugar, flour, milk, oil, baking powder, two pears, and a few chocolate chips are all you need. This is precisely what makes it a great idea for the weekend, when you're looking for a family dessert without spending hours in the kitchen. Served slightly warm, with a hot drink, this pear-chocolate duo transforms a classic cake into a true treat.
