Want to pamper your festive sandwiches? Replace the store-bought ones with beautifully fluffy homemade ones. Preparing them is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. With a delicious spread and beautifully decorated, they will be a real eye-catcher on the table.

Ingredients · Servings 3 pieces
  • 270 ml (g) of water
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 50g oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 50 g rye bread flour
  • 50 g fine whole wheat flour
  • 400 g plain flour
  • 15 g fresh yeast
Method · 50 min
  1. Mix the sourdough with water, a little sugar, flour and all the yeast (all from the prepared, weighed amount) and let it rise for about 20 minutes.
  2. Then add the other ingredients and knead the dough, which we leave to rise in a warm place (about 60 minutes).
  3. Knead the risen dough, divide it into 3 parts and shape each into a lid.
  4. Let the loaves rise on a baking sheet lined with baking paper or foil. You can also cut them. Preheat the oven to 220 °C.
  5. Brush the lids with water before baking and place in the oven. Bake for about 25–30 minutes in a preheated oven at 220 °C and immediately after placing the tray in the oven, reduce the temperature to 200 °C.
