Bread bowl with ham and egg

Bread bowl with ham and egg

Eggs and cheese baked in a bread bowl

Bread bowl with eggs and ham is a delicious and easy dish for a delicious lunch, a wonderful brunch or for a packed lunch.

It's almost like a small pie or egg en cocotte, where the bread forms an edible bowl for all the delights.

Here I've made them with creamy cream cheese, a little pesto, a little ham and eggs. They're super easy to make and taste really good.

4 slices of bread

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons natural cream cheese

2 tsk pesto

2 tsp dijon mustard

4 slices of ham

4 eggs

Roll the bread flat with a rolling pin and spread it with a little butter on one side and cream cheese, pesto and Dijon on the other side.

Place the slice of bread in a firm muffin tin – butter side out – and shape the bread so that it forms a small bowl with room for the filling.

Place ham in each bread bowl and then crack an egg into each.

Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes or until the egg white is perfectly set and the yolk is still soft.
