Horseradish sauce
Do you fancy a sauce with a real kick? Horseradish sauce is a Czech classic that has almost disappeared from our menus, and it's no wonder. It's made from milk and cream, thickened with flour, and finally seasoned with vinegar and grated horseradish.
Ingredients · Servings 1 dose
- 2 tablespoons grated horseradish (or Krenex)
- 250 ml milk
- 200 g cooking cream
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- salt
- To taste:
- vinegar
- sugar
Method · 40 min
- Whisk the flour into the cream. Bring the milk to the boil in a saucepan, add salt and slowly pour in the cream mixture, stirring constantly.
- Cook the sauce over low heat for a few minutes. Then add vinegar, sweeten and salt to taste.
- Finally, stir the grated horseradish (or Krenex) into the sauce and heat it briefly.
- Serve with dumplings and boiled or smoked meat.
