Ingredients · Servings 6
- 250g White flour
- 100g Unsalted Butter
- 100 g Sucre roux
- 50g Powdered sugar
- 1 serving of egg white(s)
- 1 Sachet Baking Powder
- 1 Sachet Vanilla Sugar
- 1 A few pinches of salt
- 100g Nestlé Dark Chocolate Chips
- 50g White Chocolate
- 1 pack of Bubblizz Candy
- 1 tube of black dye
- 1 tube of red gel dye
Method · 32 min
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) so it's nice and hot when you put the cookies in. Meanwhile, line one or two baking sheets with parchment paper. If the butter is very firm, take it out of the refrigerator a little while beforehand to make it easier to work with. Also, prepare all the measured ingredients on your work surface to save time and make the recipe easier.
- In a large bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla sugar. Work the mixture with a spatula or whisk until smooth, supple, and creamy. This step ensures the sugars are evenly distributed throughout the butter, giving the cookies a rich, flavorful, and delicious texture after baking.
- Add the egg white to the butter and sugar mixture, then stir thoroughly until fully incorporated. You should obtain a smooth, slightly lighter, and very uniform mixture. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure no bits remain unmixed. This step helps bind the dough and gives the cookies a soft texture.
- Pour the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a few pinches of salt into a mixing bowl. Gradually mix to form a soft, thick, and smooth cookie dough. It's best to stir gently after adding the flour to ensure the cookies remain soft after baking. The dough should be easy to handle without being too sticky or too dry.
- Incorporate the dark chocolate chips into the dough, distributing them evenly throughout. Mix with a spoon or clean hands so that each portion of dough contains chocolate. This even distribution results in delicious and balanced cookies with a melt-in-your-mouth texture in every bite. If necessary, chill the dough for a few minutes if it is too soft.
- Take portions of dough and form balls of similar size to make uniform cookies. Place them on the baking sheets, spacing them well apart, then flatten them slightly with the palm of your hand. Next, give them an irregular shape, slightly bumpy or oval, to evoke the playful look of little Halloween monsters. You can vary the shapes slightly for a more lively and fun effect.
- Place the baking sheets in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake the cookies for approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Keep a close eye on them: the edges should be lightly golden, while the centers can remain slightly soft. The cookies will firm up slightly as they cool. Once out of the oven, let them rest for a few minutes on the baking sheet before carefully transferring them to a wire rack.
- While the cookies are cooling, break or chop the white chocolate, then melt it gently in a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave. Stir between each burst to achieve a smooth texture. This chocolate will serve as the base for decorating the monsters. Be careful not to overheat it so that it remains fluid, shiny, and easy to use for drawing.
- Prepare the elements that will transform the cookies into little monsters. Take some melted white chocolate and mix it with black food coloring in one bowl, then with red food coloring in another, to create contrasting details. Open the Bubblizz candy package and cut out some pieces to create mouths, tongues, or eyebrows, depending on the desired effect.
- Once the cookies are completely cool, decorate them with melted white chocolate to create eyes, fangs, or other facial details. Then, use the black and red colored mixtures to draw pupils, scars, spooky smiles, or outlines. Arrange the Bubblizz candies to complete the expressions. Let your creativity flow as you vary the faces to create a gang of fun and delicious monsters.
- Let the decorated cookies rest at room temperature until the chocolate has set completely. If your kitchen is warm, you can place them in the refrigerator for a few minutes to speed up the setting process without making them soggy. Then serve your monster-shaped Halloween cookies on a platter or in bags for a festive treat. They'll be a hit with kids and adults alike.
