Sunset in a glass, an unforgettable experience at the Roca Negra Hotel in Gran Canaria

Sunset in a glass, an unforgettable experience at the Roca Negra Hotel in Gran Canaria

Masterfully integrated into the volcanic rock where the seaside town of Agaete sits, the Occidental Roca Negra Hotel welcomes us perched on the unparalleled cliff of Gran Canaria's north coast, offering breathtaking views of Mount Teide and the Tamadaba Natural Park.

We stayed in one of its 140 spacious and welcoming rooms, elegantly and recently renovated, offering spectacular panoramic views of the coast and the soothing sound of the waves for our relaxation time. To fully enjoy the experience, we opted for the All-Inclusive program, which allows us to customize every corner of the facilities to our liking. From the reading nook next to reception and the heated pool with a whirlpool bath next to the sunbathing area with parasols, to the dedicated gym and wellness area.

It was precisely in their complete Spa that we decided to treat ourselves to a pampering session, enjoying both the water circuit they offer and some of their in-cabin treatments.

In addition to a central pool with integrated bubble loungers, the circuit features a lumbar hydromassage bath, phlebological jet, curtain jet or waterfall, executive or cervical jet, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna, bithermal, cyclonic and arctic showers, as well as a foot bath and hot water relaxation pool.

A true temple of well-being that, together with a relaxing trekking route through the beautiful natural landscapes surrounding the hotel, helps us whet our appetites.

Snacks and cocktails at sunset

For a late lunch, there's nothing better than Juncal restaurant, which, in addition to its à la carte menu, offers a large main buffet with an unbeatable gastronomic variety. Besides the delicious dishes that characterize Canarian cuisine, the menu includes French, Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican specialties, and much more. It's impossible to get bored.

And we saved the jewel of the establishment for last: Rocktop Agaete at the Occidental Roca Negra Hotel, an extraordinary beachfront space where you feel like you're sailing on the blue waters of the ocean. Enveloped in its chill atmosphere, we were captivated by its delightful cocktail menu, where classics take center stage alongside new creations, all while enjoying one of the most beautiful sunsets on the planet.
