Saddle, best cuisine and best restaurant in Madrid according to the Madrid Academy

Saddle restaurant was the undisputed winner at the sixth annual Madrid Academy of Gastronomy awards, receiving both the award for best restaurant in the region and the award for best cuisine. The awards ceremony took place during a celebration held at the Royal Post Office.

Valerio Carrera, from the A Barra restaurant, and Óscar Marcos, head of the Alabaster dining room team, won the other two most outstanding awards of the gala, for best sommelier of the year and best dining room manager.

The Academy wished to give special recognition to the careers of María de Lorenzo, owner and manager of the El Oso restaurant, and Salvador Gallego, creator of another historic establishment, El Cenador de Salvador, in Moralzarzal. Another special award was given to flamenco tablaos.

Villoldo (regional cuisine), El Doble (traditional bar); Santos y Desamparados (bars and drinks); Tandoori Station (international cuisine), Doña Filo (traditional Madrid dishes) and Coalla Madrid (wines and spirits). The Amasa bakery won the Pastry-Bakery award and Huerta de Carabaña won the product award and Cocina Conciencia won the social project award.
