Woodlands MRT Food Fair Is Back With Pistachio Kunafa, Birria Tacos And More

Northies, you’re in luck: there’s a huge food bazaar beside Woodlands MRT Station that runs from now till 12 November 2024! Dubbed Food Street, the bustling fair boasts food stalls with trendy pasar malam eats, so you can jalan jalan and makan your way through the night.

There’s a kiosk selling Golden Sweet Potato Balls ($5), which has now become a pasar malam staple. These freshly fried orbs are crispy and the outside and chewy in the middle, with a lovely natural sweetness from the sweet potato. At the same stall, you’ll find Fried Milk ($5) and Taiwan Peanut Ice Cream Popiah ($4), where a popiah roll is loaded with ice cream, ground peanuts and fresh coriander for a refreshing bite.

You can also get your sweet tooth cravings sorted with the kunafa desserts at Kunafa Tak Viral. You’ll find trendy flavours such as Pistachio Please ($14) and OG White Chocolate ($11). For the uninitiated, kunafa is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert comprising shredded kataifi pastry, similar to phyllo, drenched in syrup and layered with cheese or cream.

These days, you’ll find different renditions and varieties of the dessert, including kunafa martabak manis and kunafa croissants. If you’d like something savoury to cut through all that sweetness, head to Authentic Iron Plate Kung Fu Squid for their Big Squid ($9).

We spotted a few more stalls selling XL fried squid too! Alternatively, load up on the protein at Killaz Birria Tacos, where you can get a set of two crispy tortilla wraps stuffed with slow-cooked beef, chicken, or lamb, served with consomme for dipping. Don’t miss Ahae Taiyaki‘s booth too, where you’ll find these fish-shaped pancakes at $2.50 each or $6 for three.

Flavours include Kaya, Duran, Red Bean, and Hokkiado Milk. Wash everything down with a refreshing Thai Milk Tea at Amoy Thai Tea, priced at $4 for 700ml and $5 for a huge one-litre cup.

Besides these must-tries, there are pasar malam classics such as Ramly burgers, vadai, takoyaki, and other deep-fried snacks! The fair is located at Woodlands MRT, right outside Causeway Point.
