CPK launches ‘Apology Pizza’ campaign, promises fan-favorite comeback

California Pizza Kitchen is apologizing to fans this National Pizza Month by giving away up to 25,000 "Apology Pizzas" and promising to bring back a fan-favorite pizza in 2027.

“We take full responsibility for the unforgettable pizzas that fans have loved and lost,”

Through Oct. 31, guests can comment "Apology Accepted" on select CPK Instagram, TikTok or Facebook posts to receive a redemption code for a free 7-inch pizza with a $20 online purchase. The offer is redeemable through Nov. 10 while supplies last.

The tongue-in-cheek campaign responds to years of requests for discontinued favorites such as Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Shrimp Scampi and Pear and Gorgonzola pizzas. CPK will monitor social media throughout October to help determine which former pizza returns to the menu next year.

"We take full responsibility for the unforgettable pizzas that fans have loved and lost," Chef Paul Pszybylski, vice president of culinary innovation said in a press release. "But this National Pizza Month, we're making it right — with 25,000 free pizzas now, one returning pizza next year, and zero regrets about how seriously we're taking this."

CMO Dawn Keller said customer feedback will play a role in the 2027 comeback. "We invite all guests to speak up through comments or their own posts — your voice could decide the destiny of CPK pizza fans nationwide."
