Piquillo pepper sauce recipe

Piquillo pepper sauce recipe

Piquillo pepper sauce is very easy to prepare, with very few ingredients and has a magnificent flavor that enhances many dishes (I'll explain more about it below).

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 8 piquillo peppers in brine
  • ½ onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ½ glass of white wine
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons of cream or heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
Method · 25 min
  1. Chop the onion and garlic very finely.
  2. Chop the piquillo peppers into cubes or strips, whichever you prefer.
  3. Heat a pot or pan with olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic for about 10 minutes until they become slightly translucent, but be careful not to burn them.
  4. Add the glass of white wine and stir well until the alcohol evaporates.
  5. Add the piquillo peppers and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Now add the cream and mix well, still over medium heat for a couple more minutes. Add salt to taste.
  7. Now you're going to put the whole mixture in an electric blender and blend until you have a smooth, uniform sauce.
  8. If you want it thicker, add more cream; if you prefer it thinner, add some water, but always in small amounts.
  9. There you go, you now have a delicious piquillo pepper sauce.

Although it looks very similar to traditional pepper sauce, in this case we are talking about a specific ingredient with a unique flavor, namely the piquillo pepper, which is of Spanish origin.

We'll show you how to make it at home very easily.
