QUIZ: Learn about the types of popular nuts. They are all delicious

Nuts are not just a snack for your pocket. Almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts or cashews differ in taste, nutritional composition and culinary uses. Browse through the most popular types of nuts and find out which one is right for you.

Nuts are a popular ingredient, full of healthy fats. They are fruits hidden in hard shells, which must first be cracked open in order to be able to remove and process the fruits. We know many types of nuts. All of them are widely used in the kitchen – if not in baking, then to prepare various delicacies, as you can see in our video:

What nuts do we know?

All types of nuts can be purchased shelled in their natural form, some roasted, salted, in sugar or caramel. Some types can be purchased with the shell, which is their natural protection:

  • Walnuts are an integral part of classic nut desserts.
  • Hazelnuts have a specific flavor that belongs in Christmas cookies.
  • Pecans are most popular in traditional American pies.
  • Cashew nuts come from Brazil. They are tender yet crunchy and sweet.
  • Pistachio nuts burst when ripe, making it easier to peel.
  • Macadamia nuts have a very hard shell, but they are buttery and sweet.
  • Brazil nuts are the largest of all the nuts. They have a sweet and buttery taste.

The most popular nuts are peanuts, which are not true nuts, but legumes (groundnuts). In winter, we can enjoy a slightly different type of nut, which is chestnuts. In the past, they were used for enjoyment, but also to warm frozen hands.
