Tartar sauce
Tartar sauce, served cold, is very popular not only in Poland but also in England, Austria, and France. The main ingredient is mayonnaise, and depending on the country or region, other ingredients are added (including gherkins, capers, parsley, and pickled mushrooms). It's the perfect accompaniment to cold cuts and cold meats, which is why it's especially popular in Poland around Easter.

Tartar sauce - what does it go with?
You now know how to make tartar sauce. This distinctive and distinctively flavorful addition can be used in many ways. Which dishes does it pair particularly well with?
Eggs in tartar sauce
Even though tartar sauce contains eggs, there's no harm in serving it with hard-boiled eggs. The flavors complement each other perfectly, and the eggs become more aromatic and flavorful.
Fried cheese
In the Czech Republic, tartar sauce is typically served with "smažený sýr" (fried cheese), which is breaded Hermelín, Gouda, or Edam cheese. This traditional Czech dish, served with French fries or potatoes, tastes even better with the sauce.
Tartar sauce for fish and grilled dishes
This snack pairs perfectly with fish, especially fried, breaded, and smoked. Tartar sauce for herring, cod, or pollock with a crispy coating are just a few delicious options. You can also add the sauce to grilled dishes, such as chicken skewers, pork neck, or sausages.
Tartar sauce for salads, cold cuts and snacks
This tartar sauce recipe is perfect for any occasion. It pairs well with burgers (fish, meat, and vegetable), patties, various sandwiches, and even salads (potato, egg, or meat). During Easter, it's served with homemade cold cuts and pâté. It not only enhances their flavor but also makes them juicier.
