Prepared Without Flour: Lentil Bread

Prepared Without Flour: Lentil Bread

Lentil Bread Recipe

Lentil bread is a type of bread where soaked red lentils are used as the main ingredient instead of wheat flour. Because the red lentils are blended to form a dough-like consistency, there's no need to add extra flour. Flax seeds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds add different textures to the bread.

The aroma of freshly baked bread is undoubtedly one of the most familiar joys of the kitchen. This time, that delicious, unforgettable scent will rise not from a dough, but from red lentils that have been soaked in water overnight and softened. The aroma of olive oil, the smell of the seeds beginning to roast, and the golden crust forming on the bread... What more could you want for a loaf of bread?

Here's how to make red lentil bread, which can be used in various meals from breakfast to soup.

How to Make Bread from Lentils?

To make lentil bread, soak 1 cup of red lentils in plenty of water overnight. The next day, drain the water from the lentils before you start making the bread.

Place the drained lentils, 1 egg, 2-3 teaspoons of salt to taste, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 cup of water into a blender. Blend until completely smooth.

Add 3 tablespoons of flax seeds, 3 tablespoons of sunflower seeds, 3 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, and 1 packet of baking powder to the smooth liquid mixture. Blend the mixture briefly to combine the ingredients.

Divide the prepared bread dough evenly into 4 small, lightly greased round baking pans. Sprinkle about a handful of pumpkin seeds on top.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes, or until nicely browned on top and fully cooked through.

Once the bread comes out of the oven and has cooled slightly, carefully remove it from its containers and serve. The lentil bread is ready. Enjoy!
