The easiest cottage cheese dough for fruit dumplings (without eggs)

The simplest dough for fruit dumplings consists only of cottage cheese, baby semolina and a pinch of salt. Moreover, it is also quick to prepare. Cottage cheese dumplings filled with fruit are delicious for children and adults alike.

Ingredients · Servings 1 dose
  • 250 g soft cottage cheese
  • 100 g baby semolina (or coarse flour)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • strawberries (apricots and other fruits)
  • Further:
  • clarified butter (for drizzling)
  • powdered sugar (for sprinkling)
  • grated cottage cheese (for sprinkling)
Method · 42 min
  1. Make a smooth dough from cottage cheese, semolina and a pinch of salt.
  2. Shape it into a roll, divide it into equal pieces, shape each piece into a patty, top with strawberries (or other fruit) and shape into round dumplings. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, let the water heat up in a pot.
  4. Place all the dumplings in boiling, lightly salted water, remove them from the bottom after a while and cook until they float to the surface. Then cook for another 2–3 minutes.
  5. Take the finished dumplings out and serve with powdered sugar, cottage cheese, and melted butter.
