💜Plum dumplings

Plum dumplings are one of those flavors that perfectly herald the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. 🍂 Delicate potato dough, juicy plums inside, and sour cream with nuts in a cinnamon caramel... What could be better?

If you've never made dumplings before, I have an easy and tried-and-true recipe for plum dumplings that's a great place to start. The dough is simple to make, and the result? Soft, fragrant, and full of sweet and sour plum surprises.

This is the kind of homemade recipe you'll want to return to when the first Hungarian dumplings appear at the market stalls. Be sure to save these plum dumplings for the season!

Preparation of plum dumplings:

Step 1 Boil the potatoes in salted water, let them cool and then press them through a ricer or a grinder.

Step 2 Wash the plums, cut them lengthwise and remove the pits, being careful not to separate the halves.

Step 3 Add the flour, eggs, and a pinch of salt to the potatoes. Knead into a smooth dough.

Step 4 Add about half a teaspoon of sugar to the center of each plum.

Step 5: In a wide pot, bring water to a boil and add salt to taste. Cut off a piece of dough, flatten it in your hand, place a plum in it, and wrap it in the dough. Form a dumpling shape and set aside on a floured surface. The above proportions will yield approximately 25-30 dumplings, depending on the size of the plums.

Step 6: Cook the plum dumplings in salted water for about 4-5 minutes after they float to the surface. The water should be hot but not boiling. Once cooked, drain and arrange on a plate. Serve with sour cream mixed with sugar and vanilla sugar.
