Molly Baz is Sweetgreen's first Chef in Residence
With a “Lunch Means Business” campaign in partnership with Baz, the fast-casual chain is featuring pickle-forward chicken salad three ways.
Sweetgreen is unveiling its first Chef in Residence on Tuesday, and she means business when it comes to lunch.
The fast-casual chain is partnering with cookbook author Molly Baz, who also has a digital recipe club, a natural wine company, and a mayonnaise brand, Ayoh Mayo.
Baz has partnered with Sweetgreen to launch three new menu items targeting the lunch crowd with a focus on her dilly pickle-forward chicken salad as part of a “Lunch Means Business” campaign.
It’s the first time Sweetgreen has offered a chicken salad, which will appear three ways as a limited-time offer through Nov. 9:
- Molly’s Big Dill Caesar Wrap will include Baz’s creamy chicken salad with romaine, fresh dill, Parmesan, pickled red onion, spicy broccoli, garlic breadcrumbs, lemon, Ayoh Dill Pickle Mayo, along with a pickle spear and Caesar dressing, all wrapped in an olive oil tortilla.
- Molly’s Pickle Caesar Sal features the chicken salad with fresh dill, Parmesan, pickled red onion, spicy broccoli, garlic breadcrumbs, lemon and Caesar dressing with a pickle spear.
- Molly’s Double Chick Scoop is simply a double scoop of the chicken salad without accoutrements, with a pickle spear on the side.
Zipporah Allen, Sweetgreen’s chief commercial officer, said this will be the first of “many voices” that will the chain will welcome through the Chef in Residency program.
“Molly approaches food with curiosity, conviction and a very clear point of view on what makes something delicious. Together, we created a menu that feels distinctly Molly and distinctly Sweetgeen, thoughtfully made and anything but basic,” said Allen in a statement.
Baz said she has been a fan of Sweetgreen for years, and designed the salad variations to be “exponentially more fun and delicious” as a self-declared expert on Caesars.
“I’m on a mission to put an end to boring sandwiches and sad lunches — and that includes wraps. My constant experimentation in the kitchen is how Ayoh was born, and it’s how I landed on this menu of spins on a classic, and highly beloved American food group: the Caesar salad.”
In the campaign, Baz is cast as the ultimate lunchtime boss in the “larger-than-life executive world of the ‘90s” who’s workday is focused on making undeniably delicious food, according to Sweetgreen.
Baz is author of “Cook This Book,” and “More is More,” and she hosts The Club, offering weekly recipes. Her Ayoh Mayo has an avocado oil base and is available in five flavors.
