Terrazza Nainer in Rome: Rimessa Roscioli and Salotto 42 rooftop bar with food, wine, and cocktails

Terrazza Nainer. Summer is once again the time for terraces, and Rome is one of the most interesting cities for finding magnificent ones, nestled among domes, historic buildings, and sunsets.

Palazzo Nainer is a historic residence on Via del Babuino, built in 1821 by the renowned architect Giuseppe Valadier. Today, it's a boutique hotel that has preserved the historic character of the space in a modern and elegant setting. The top floor features a terrace, which is set to be particularly lively this summer thanks to the arrival of two exciting new talents, who will open the residence to Romans in the city.

These are Rimessa Roscioli and Salotto 42, two eclectic establishments in central Rome united by their pursuit of quality. Rimessa Roscioli offers the wine list and food, while the drinks menu is curated by Salotto 42. On the terrace, you can enjoy both while gazing across Piazza del Popolo and Villa Borghese.

On the menu we find a well-reasoned selection of very transversal foods, suitable for both dinner and an aperitif, for an Italian but also international public. Delicatessen, canapés, main courses and desserts can be ordered à la carte ranging from the selection of artisan cured meats (22), goat cheese and compotes (16) and buffalo cheeses in oil (16) as well as smoked Balik salmon and Bordier butter (25).

Among the canapés with a vintage touch are a salad of crunchy bread with tomato, with Vulcano tuna (16), a canapé of black bread with lemon ricotta and raw red prawns (18) and then mixed salad from the Clapi garden with marinated aubergines and baked tomatoes (12).

Among the main courses, beef meatballs with tomato sauce and aged ricotta (16), parmigiana millefeuille with buffalo burrata (14), beef tartare Karl Pretzhoff in three tastings (22). This simple and transversal proposal ends with three choices of dessert, such as the selection of aged cheeses and traditional Modena vinegar (10), ricottamisu (10), chocolate cream, crunchy bread, oil and salt (10). The wine list instead is made up of around forty references, including whites, reds, rosés and a full-bodied selection of Champagne, without forgetting the Italian sparkling wines. Many of the labels are also available by the glass with the possibility of choosing between pouring and coravin, a well-known system that allows you to taste even important wines by the glass.

Finally, we come to Salotto 42's cocktails, divided into aperitifs and after-dinner drinks, all between €12 and €18. They include both signature and classic drinks. Among the aperitifs, we recommend Tesoro 42 with Carpano Antica Formula, Pimento Drum, Branca Menta, Campari, and an alcohol-free jelly side; Nainer Flowers with gin, lime, lavender syrup, and violet liqueur; or Spritz 42 with Aperol, rhubarb, ginger beer, Prosecco, and soda water. Among the after-dinner drinks, Aviation 42 with gin, Maraschino, violet liqueur, lemon, violets, and alcoholic air; Cucunci Dry Martini with gin, dry vermouth, and cucunci; and finally French Nainer with gin, lemon, sugar, and champagne on top. The terrace is open daily from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
