Masterchef 13's ratings record: Eleonora wins everyone over, making it the most-watched finale in the last four years
Masterchef 13's ratings record is double: Eleonora Riso's victory is a success in the kitchen and with the public, with an average of 1.145 million viewers and a 5.4% share.
We knew Eleonora was a character from her first appearance during the auditions. With her slightly scatterbrained, slightly over-the-top, and downright hilarious demeanor. A character, yes. One of those who, in addition to boosting viewership, also boasts so much talent and boundless creativity (it's not us who say this, but the judges and all the guest chefs who have passed through the Masterchef 13 kitchen). And we know well how programs like Masterchef, over the years, have brought likeable and entertaining "characters" to the final stages, but who perhaps still need to learn a lot about working in a kitchen.
Record-breaking final
Eleonora's victory on MasterChef 13 is a double victory. The Livorno-born waitress, who we're sure will be a talking point, triumphed in a final where her first place was far from guaranteed, with Michela and especially Antonio proving to be formidable opponents. She also reaffirmed the power of Sky's cooking show. The finale of the thirteenth season of MasterChef followed the success of the previous season. The numbers show it's the most-watched finale in the last four years, with an average of 1.145 million viewers and a 5.4% share, an 8% increase over last year's edition and a whopping 45% compared to a week ago.
The success of Masterchef
With these numbers, Masterchef confirms its popularity as a program still riding high, despite its 13th season. This is no small feat for such a long-running program that has remained largely unchanged over the years (except for a few sporadic, but not significant, innovations). It's a program that still captivates viewers, creates momentum, entertains, and gets people talking. The social media figures also confirm this: 792,000 total social interactions, up 62% from a year ago and up 212% from previous episodes. Masterchef continues to be popular because it's about cooking, but also because the three judges—Bruno Barbieri, Giorgio Locatelli, and Antonino Cannavacciuolo—have become TV personalities in their own right, beloved and widely followed, and have perfectly embraced their roles. But much of the credit goes to the contestants, that's for sure. And we'd love to contestants like Eleonora.
