Bake this tempting dessert, the contrast of the layers of which creates a luxurious impression and is therefore fantastic for more festive occasions. Once finished, cut it into the chosen slices and serve, for example, with your favorite drink.
The custard cream makes the taste of the dessert delicate and delicious. You can also use a similar custard cream to prepare unbaked BeBe slices, for example. Both of these desserts are distinctive with their typical alternating colors.
Simple dessert with custard cream
Bake this simple dessert with the custard cream from the introductory video, the following points will help you achieve a great result. The ingredients are calculated for one baking sheet measuring 30 × 40 cm.
- For the dough, you will need
- 450 g of semi-coarse flour
- 250 g of softened butter
- 100 g of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 baking powder
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa
- 1 pinch of salt and 1–2 tablespoons of milk as needed
- Prepare the cream from 550 ml of milk, 2 vanilla pudding powders, 1 vanilla sugar, 200 g of caster sugar and 550 g of sour cream (16–18% fat).
- Sift the semi-coarse flour, cocoa, baking powder and icing sugar into a large enough bowl. Then add the pieces of softened butter, eggs and a pinch of salt.
- Make a smooth and non-sticky dough from the mixture with a consistency similar to Linz dough.
- Tip: If the dough is crumbly, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk.
- Let the dough rest in the refrigerator, wrapped in cling film, for at least an hour.
- Meanwhile, cook a thick pudding with milk, vanilla pudding powder, vanilla sugar and granulated sugar. After it has simmered, cover the pot with cling film and let the pudding cool. Whisk the sour cream into the cooled pudding.
- Divide the risen dough in half and roll one half out on baking paper into a sheet the size of a baking sheet and about 3 mm thick. Place it on the baking sheet and prick it with a fork.
- Spread the custard cream evenly over the dough. Roll out the second half of the dough to the same size as the first and place it on top of the cream layer. Check that the surface is even and prick the dough with a fork.
- Place the dessert in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake for about 25–30 minutes. When baking, follow your experience with your specific oven and make sure that the dessert is baked just right.
- Let the finished dessert cool, store it in the refrigerator, and cut and serve it the next day.
