Cinnabon tries the dirty soda trend with launch of Swirled Sodas
The limited-time drinks are inspired by Disney-owned Hulu and ABC reality TV shows, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and The Bachelorette.
“By pairing our most irresistible treats with two shows that dominate the conversation, we're giving fans a delicious new way to experience their favorite nights of TV.”
Cinnabon is tapping into the growing dirty soda trend—which has driven significant beverage menu expansion in the quick-service segment—with the launch of its new Swirled Sodas. The GoTo Foods cinnamon roll brand is introducing the limited-time beverage duo as part of its spring menu, coinciding with the latest seasons of Disney-owned Hulu and ABC reality TV shows, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “The Bachelorette.”
The two Swirled Soda flavors include “Saints & Cinnas” (featuring a “crisp soda base,” vanilla swirl and the brand’s own Makara cinnamon topping) and “Raspberry Revelations” (soda base with raspberry syrup and vanilla swirl. Both flavors be customized with a soda of choice and are available now through April 23. The company will also feature “The Bachelorette”-themed packaging for its branded CinnaPacks, and “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”-themed soda cup packaging for a limited time.
The dirty soda trend, which originated in Utah’s Mormon communities and gained mainstream popularity, ties seamlessly to both TV shows. “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” spotlights the lives of Utah-based religious influencers, which has also inspired the #MomTok social media movement. Meanwhile, this season of “The Bachelorette” stars former “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” series regular, Taylor Frankie Paul.
With the introduction of Swirled Sodas inspired by these two popular reality TV shows, Cinnabon is tapping into the dirty soda phenomenon with a differentiating marketing kick.
"Reality TV fans don't just watch — they gather, snack, and make an indulgent night of it," Urvi Patel, senior vice president of brands and chief brand officer at Cinnabon, said in a statement."By pairing our most irresistible treats with two shows that dominate the conversation, we're giving fans a delicious new way to experience their favorite nights of TV."
