Kerry Group unveils 2026 global taste charts shaping ME flavor trends with marketing manager Pinar Taskin

Pinar Taskin, Kerry Group’s marketing manager for the MENAT and Pakistan region highlights the flavors influencing F&B innovation.

Kerry Group has released its 2026 Global Taste Charts, offering a detailed view of the flavor trends shaping food and beverage innovation across the Middle East. Pinar Taskin, Marketing Manager for Kerry Middle East, Türkiye and Pakistan, highlights the evolving preferences behind this year’s trends.

The 2026 edition expands from six to eight categories, covering refreshing beverages, tea and coffee, savory snacks, sweet, sauces and dressings, and meat, among others. The broader scope reflects a market where consumers are balancing indulgence with wellness while embracing both familiar flavors and new influences.

Newstalgia brings tradition into modern formats

One of the key trends is newstalgia, which gives traditional Middle Eastern flavors a contemporary expression. Ingredients such as date, za’atar, cardamom and saffron are appearing in modern food and beverage formats. The approach combines familiarity with novelty while keeping cultural heritage at the center of the experience.

Layered heat adds depth to spice

The appetite for spicy flavors is also evolving. Rather than relying on straightforward heat, consumers are showing greater interest in more complex profiles. Paprika led blends are gaining momentum, combining smoky, sweet and aromatic notes. These flavors are finding applications across snacks, sauces and grilled meats, creating greater depth and complexity.

Fruit shapes the future of hydration

Fruit forward flavors are continuing to influence beverage development, particularly within refreshing formats. Watermelon is appearing across sparkling waters, juices and alcohol inspired drinks. Its naturally sweet and refreshing character aligns with demand for beverages that combine hydration with a clean label positioning.

Micro indulgence creates smaller moments of pleasure

At the same time, consumers are looking for more accessible ways to enjoy indulgent products. Micro indulgence is driving interest in bite sized snacks, mini desserts and convenient protein options. These smaller formats allow consumers to enjoy moments of reward while fitting more easily into everyday routines.

Together, the trends highlighted in Kerry’s 2026 Global Taste Charts point to a flavor landscape that is increasingly diverse. Traditional ingredients, complex flavor profiles, refreshing beverages and portion controlled indulgence are creating new opportunities for brands across the Middle East.
