Two-ingredient chocolate cake

Two-ingredient chocolate cake

Start making the chocolate cake by lining a small cake pan with baking paper. You can grease the paper with some extra butter if you like. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.

Carefully melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a pan of simmering water. Let the chocolate cool to room temperature.

Separate the egg whites and yolks. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Add the yolks one by one to the room temperature melted chocolate and mix by hand.

Add a third of the egg whites to the chocolate mixture and beat until smooth (you don't need to be careful not to let the foam settle during the first addition). Then carefully fold in the rest of the egg whites with a whisk. Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the surface.

Bake the cake in the oven until cooked through, about 13 minutes. Allow the cake to cool and then invert onto a serving platter. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Chocolate cake with two ingredients - the world's easiest cake recipe.

Baking couldn't get any easier than this! Forget long ingredient lists and complicated instructions - try this mouthwatering chocolate cake instead, which is made with just two ingredients that many of you may already have in your cupboards. Plus, the cake is naturally gluten-free and, if you prefer, dairy-free, depending on the chocolate you use.

You can use dark or milk chocolate for the cake, depending on your taste. If you want, you can also try flavored chocolates, such as mint or hazelnut chocolate.
