Shortbread cake with apples

Shortcrust pastry is a delicious dessert that can be made with almost no effort. There is no need to make any dough, and the pastry is soft and pleasantly moist. It can also be baked instead of a traditional strudel.

Ingredients · Servings 1 where
  • Dough:
  • 300 g plain flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • Filling:
  • 750 g apples
  • raisins (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Further:
  • butter for greasing the mold
  • breadcrumbs for dusting the mold
Method · 1 h 10 min
  1. Grease the cake tin with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Sift the flour mixed with baking powder into a bowl. Add the eggs, sugar, slightly softened butter and use your fingers to form crumbs.
  3. Fill the prepared mold with half of the shortcrust pastry. Press down well and create a raised edge.
  4. Peel, quarter and core the apples. Cut them into slices and arrange them on the crust. Sprinkle with raisins.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumbs on top and dust with powdered sugar.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes.
