Wasp nests

Wasp nests

Wasp nests, also known as beehives, are among the most popular no-bake Christmas cookies. Every family has their own tried-and-true recipe, and we bring you one of them. A soft rum dough, buttercream, a few minutes of time, and you have a ready-made treat that will be the first to disappear from the table.

Ingredients · Servings 1 dose
  • Dough:
  • 160 g sponge cakes
  • 60 g butter
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 70 g hazelnuts
  • rum (to taste)
  • Cream:
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk (or a little egg liqueur)
  • rum (to taste)
  • Further:
  • round biscuits (as needed)
Method · 1 h
  1. Finely grind the biscuits and hazelnuts. Add the softened butter, sugar, cocoa, milk, rum (you can add more rum instead of milk), and knead into a soft dough.
  2. Mix the ingredients for the filling into a smooth cream. You can use a little egg liqueur instead of the yolk.
  3. Gradually take pieces of the dough, shape each into a ball, and press it into a beehive mold. Fill the center with cream, close the nest with a sponge cake, and turn it out of the mold.
  4. Store the finished wasp nests in a sealable container in the refrigerator.
