A Greek cake with a fresh and spicy flavour

The savory pie we're offering in this recipe is of Greek origin, perfect for dinner when you're craving something delicious yet light. The use of filo pastry makes it even tastier, crumbly, and flavorful. Let's make the Tyropita together.

A recipe made with filo pastry, yogurt, and feta, delicious as a main course or on its own. From Greece, this versatile dish can be prepared for a variety of occasions. Let's see what ingredients are needed.

Ingredients

  • 10 sheets of filo pastry
  • 1 teaspoon chopped dill
  • 200 g are exceeded
  • 1 pot of natural whole yogurt
  • 5 chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 small leek
  • black pepper

Tyropita: procedure

Let's start with the leek. Clean it, removing the green leaves and using only the white part, which we'll then slice into rounds. In a pan, add 4 tablespoons of oil, heat, and add the leek, cooking until soft.

Separately, in a bowl, crumble the feta and add the yogurt. Mix together, and once the leeks are cooked through, pour this mixture into the pan. Cook until the cheese has completely melted.

Remove from the heat and add the chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper and stir. Let it cool, and only when it's nice and cold, add the lightly beaten egg and stir again.

Next, take a baking pan and oil the bottom. Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough and brush it with oil. Place another sheet on top and continue, alternating layers of oil, until you have five layers.

Pour the filling onto the fifth sheet (which should not be oiled). Then, proceed with another 5 sheets of filo pastry, oiling each one until the filling is covered. Roll up the edges that stick out toward the inside.

Bake for 50 minutes at 180°C. Once cooked, let it cool before serving.

Tip: The standard Greek recipe calls for filo pastry. But if you can't find it, you can substitute puff pastry.
