Groats with chicken and forest mushrooms

Mushroom season is in full swing, so try this delicious combination of mushrooms with groats and chicken. Thanks to fresh herbs, you will conjure up a great summer dish that is ready quickly and will surprise even groats haters.

Ingredients · Servings 2
  • 200 g cooked groats
  • 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1 large handful of firm forest mushrooms
  • 1 shallot
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon sweet ground paprika
  • 1 pinch of cumin
  • oil
  • salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • fresh oregano
  • parsley
Method · 1 h
  1. Soak the groats in water the day before or for at least a few hours, rinse well and cook until soft.
  2. Clean the mushrooms and cut them into smaller pieces. Heat the butter in a pan, add the mushrooms, cumin, salt and simmer gently. If necessary, add a little water to prevent the mushrooms from burning.
  3. Cut the meat into small pieces, put it in a deep pan with heated oil, add finely chopped shallot, salt, pepper and fry until soft.
  4. Before the end, add the ground paprika and crushed garlic, fry briefly together and remove from heat.
  5. Add the cooked groats, sautéed mushrooms, fresh oregano leaves to the pan with the meat and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley.
