Josef Maršálek christened his biggest book: I'm finishing, you have to know the right moment, he surprised everyone
Josef Maršálek presented his new large book full of recipes for dishes that will please you especially in the last months of the year. He called it Winter. It is his largest cookbook so far and is said to be the last of its kind.
Why on a public holiday?
Popular confectioner and judge of the Peče cela země competition Josef Maršálek decided to christen his book on the national holiday of September 28. Anyone looking for any connection with the celebrations of Czech statehood would probably be surprised. "It was the only day when all the godparents of my book had the day off, and they even found a date at the Lucie Bílá Theater," a laughing Josef admitted to Toprecepts.
Unfortunately, the popular singer was unable to arrive due to a sudden health condition, so Josef's sister Zuzana, who runs the family business Upečeno na dědině, took on the role of godmother. It is located in Kyžlířov, Moravia, where the popular confectioner's family comes from.
Godparents – friends
Together with Maršálka's younger sister, his partner from Buchet po ránu and Peče cela země also christened the book, Tereza Bebarová and the well-known writer Halina Pawlowská. She revealed that she always enjoyed Josef's approach not only to work, but also to other people. At the same time, she admitted that she is always pleased with the appetite with which the confectioner comes to visit her.
"Once I had about three-day-old rolls, so I served them with some spread and he ate them without saying a word," laughed Pawlowská. Bebarová also mentioned Maršálek as a grateful guest, as thanks to him she learned to bake excellently and found her way to sweets, which she had previously radically rejected.

In addition to the godparents, many other interesting guests also appeared at the baptism. The finalists of the last year's Peče celá země Eliška, Anežka and Alena, singer Pavel Vítek, actor Otakar Brousek Jr., singer Hana Křížková, actress and artist Iva Hüttnerová and Lucie Bílá's brother Karel Zaňák, who helped Josef with the preparation of his biggest book to date, were also present. All the ladies who run the shop in Kyžlířov, where people go to buy goodies with Josef's "signature", even arrived from all over the country. Kristina Kloubková provided the perfect moderation.

What is the book about?
Winter, which Maršálek introduced as his most extensive book to date, takes readers from Advent to early spring in more than five hundred pages. He divides hundreds of recipes into five chapters: Advent, Christmas, New Year's Eve, End of the Year, and Early Spring. Baking doesn't end with the last Christmas cookies - it continues into the following weeks, when it gets dark early and homemade baking can make an ordinary day more pleasant.
An important place in the novel is occupied by the author's grandmothers Josefka and Boženka, his first teachers. Josef has connected his experiences abroad with what he took away from their kitchens, namely patience and the joy of entertaining. Zimní is also completing a planned four-volume collection and, according to Maršálek, it will be his last "big" book. "It's time to give space to others. I recognize these moments," Josef told Toprecepts.
