Make your own lemon lemonade
Storing lemon lemonade
Ingredients · Servings 500
- 4-5 organic lemons (200 ml juice and zest of 1 lemon)
- 100 ml water
- 225 grams of sugar
Method · 10 min
- Heat a saucepan with 200 ml lemon juice, the zest of 1 lemon, 100 ml water, and 225 grams of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Your sugar syrup is ready. Pour the syrup through a fine sieve to strain out the lemon zest. Pour into sterilized syrup bottles or an ice cube tray.
- To make lemon lemonade, pour a splash of syrup into a glass and top up to taste with (sparkling) water, ice cubes, and optionally fresh mint.
The syrup you make for this lemonade can be easily stored.
How long does lemon lemonade keep?
In a well-sealed bottle, you can store the lemon syrup (not diluted with water to make lemonade) in the refrigerator for a month.
Once made, the lemonade can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Can you freeze lemon lemonade?
If you freeze lemon syrup, it will keep for up to three months. Use an ice cube tray to freeze the lemon syrup. After freezing, add the syrup ice cubes to a pitcher of water to taste. This cools the water and releases a delicious lemonade flavor.
