Jerez Wine Harvest Festival

Jerez Wine Harvest Festival

The Jerez Wine Harvest Festival, declared of International Tourist Interest, will take place from September 4 to 19, and as every year, it will feature numerous activities for all audiences, making it one of the most attractive wine tourism options.

“The Wine Harvest Festivals are a unique opportunity to discover the genuine world of Sherry Wine and Vinegar and to learn more about products that have shaped the character of Jerez and its entire region, and which are our best calling card worldwide,” said César Saldaña, president of the Regulatory Council of Sherry Wines and Vinegar and Manzanilla de Sanlúcar.

The festivities will begin with the traditional grape treading in the Alameda Vieja on September 4th at 8:00 pm, which this year pays tribute to the winemaker Pilar Plá. In addition to the usual activities, such as the "Glass to Glass" series in the Cloisters of Santo Domingo, and the Master Tastings at the Alcázar of Jerez (from September 9th to 11th and from September 16th to 18th at 8:30 pm), the extensive program includes new additions, such as the "Rockin' Sherry" series on Saturday, September 18th, with six concerts throughout the day at six different locations in the city center; the 1st Painting Exhibition "The Grape Harvest and the Andalusian Wine Cellar Mouser" at the Hotel Casa Palacio María Luisa; a Painting Workshop; and a microfiction contest, among others.

The program also includes visits to the Regulatory Council (Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th at 12:00 pm), the 2nd Blind Tasting Challenge with the Jerez Wine Association's Tasting Club, paired tastings, the DesTapa Jerez competition, showcookings, exhibitions, the Wine Lecture Series, featuring journalist Paz Ivison this year, and extensive coverage of all wine tourism activities. Also noteworthy, for the first time, are the inclusion of the Harvest Festival activities in the city's various neighborhoods, with tastings, musical performances, and more.

As every year, children will be able to participate in the children's venencia competition, which will take place in the Cloisters of Santo Domingo on Saturday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., as well as new activities, such as attractions in the center, the harvest and winery trades workshop, puppets and storytelling.
