Michelin-Starred Japanese Restaurant Omakase Table Is Moving to Buckhead
Chef Leonard Yu has been on the move lately. He recently opened Japanese restaurant Ryokou in Adair Park, and now the chef is moving his one-Michelin-starred Omakase Table from West Midtown to a bigger location in Buckhead.
“Omakase Table originated as a pop-up in Buckhead, so this neighborhood is where it all started and is very special to me,”
West Midtown isn’t losing another restaurant. The original location will transition into a new omakase spot called Neko (cat in Japanese), which will open in April, under Yu. It will offer fewer courses as an entry-level omakase experience.
“Omakase Table originated as a pop-up in Buckhead, so this neighborhood is where it all started and is very special to me,” says Yu in a statement. “The new space represents how far we’ve come.”
The biggest difference noted in the new location will be the extra space. At 2,000 square feet, the Buckhead location will have two rooms with 18 seats in total, with the option for private events. There will also be a cocktail bar with 10 seats with Japanese beers, wines, sake, and cocktails available. The 20-course tasting menu format will remain the same, with the addition of a new cocktail pairing in the works, according to general manager Jypzi Suepongsa.
The West Midtown location’s last day of service is March 2. The Buckhead restaurant will be open Wednesday through Sunday with four seatings each day. Reservations are required.
