Pret A Manger launches mix-and-match menu

Pret A Manger jumps on mix-and-match value bandwagon

“In a city full of $20 lunches, our guests appreciate clear, simple value that doesn’t compromise on quality,”

The sandwich and coffee chain launched a Pick Your Pair menu of half portions for $9.99, following similar moves by Panera Bread and La Madeleine.

Pick-two combos are becoming a more common strategy in the value wars.

Pret A Manger is the latest to launch a Pick Your Pair menu, allowing guests to combine two items, including half sandwiches, side salads or small soups, for $9.99.

“In a city full of $20 lunches, our guests appreciate clear, simple value that doesn’t compromise on quality,” said Felipe Athayde, president of North America Pret A Manger, in a statement. “With Pick Your Pair, any two items are always $9.99, so guests can mix and match the freshly made options they’re craving, whether that’s something light, hearty or a bit of both, while still enjoying the quality they expect from Pret.”

Earlier this year, Panera Bread launched its first dedicated value menu as a twist on its existing You Pick Two offering. Guests there can choose among 10 dishes at half portions for $4.99 each.

La Madeleine last year launched a Le Pick 3 menu of half sandwiches, sides and beverages to create a meal for $8.99. A second tier with more premium options was later added at $10.99.

Pret A Manger has more than 60 domestic locations across the New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Pennsylvania markets. The U.K.-based chain has more than 730 shops globally.
