KFC launches Supergirl-themed meals ahead of movie launch
DC Studios’ “Supergirl” will be released in theaters June 26, and KFC is celebrating its launch with a new limited-time collaboration inspired by the film.
“including limited-edition individual pizzas, while Cold Stone Creamery just announced a new Cosmic Creation in honor of Supergirl, and sweetFrog is running a “Treat Yourself Like a Hero”
The collaboration includes three new sauces:
Starting June 8, participating restaurants will debut a new KFC Supergirl Ultimate Meal and Supergirl Combo Meal. The Ultimate Meal includes the choice of three Original Recipe Tenders or eight nuggets, all three new Supergirl sauces, a biscuit, one side, a 21-ounce Kryptonian Kooler (a blend of Starry, blue raspberry syrup and clear strawberry boba), and one blind-bagged collectible keychain.
The combo meal includes the choice of three Original Recipe Tenders or eight nuggets, all three Supergirl sauces, a biscuit, one side of choice and a regular fountain drink.
Further, on June 10, the KFC x Supergirl Krypto Collectible Bucket will launch in restaurants, inspired by collectible popcorn buckets permeating movie culture. The bucket includes a Puppy Krypto-inspired lid, Supergirl-themed artwork and more and is available for $29.99 while supplies last.
This marks the latest movie-themed collaboration in the fast-food space ahead of a busy blockbuster summer. Papa Johns has teamed up with "Toy Story 5," including limited-edition individual pizzas, while Cold Stone Creamery just announced a new Cosmic Creation in honor of Supergirl, and sweetFrog is running a “Treat Yourself Like a Hero” promotion with animated series “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.”
Such promotions aren’t unusual and they tend to drive buzz-induced traffic. McDonald’s "A Minecraft Movie" Meals last year, for instance, generated a 12.2% increase in visits following its launch. KFC partnered with "F1 the Movie" last year to launch new $7 Fill Ups.
