Croatian Boogie Lab abre su primera panadería artesanal en Nueva York

Croatian gastro brand Boogie Lab has opened its first location outside Croatia, bringing its artisan bakery concept to New York City.

Founded by Croatian hospitality entrepreneurs Karlo Vulin and Mladen Vidović, Boogie Lab has established itself in Croatia with a concept combining an artisan bakery, bistro, bar and music. The new bakery is located in Washington Heights, Manhattan, at 4015 Broadway. The New York opening marks the brand’s first venture outside Croatia.

However, the response from local customers quickly exceeded expectations, with people returning with friends and asking what would come next. For now, the New York location is focused on the artisan bakery, with Boogie Lab saying that food, drinks, music and a fuller day-to-night concept will follow.

The brand first appeared in Zagreb in March 2023, when Vulin and Vidović opened Boogie Lab in the Park Kneževa complex. The concept quickly attracted attention on Zagreb’s food scene and later expanded to a second location in Arena Centar.

Its bakery is known for sourdough bread, baguettes, focaccia, ciabatta, croissants, cruffins and other pastries, including both sweet and savoury creations. Boogie Lab has also built a reputation for experimenting with fermentation and unusual flavour combinations.

Among the brand’s previously reported best-selling products in Croatia were the pistachio croissant, mortadella and pistachio focaccia sandwich, baguette and Eggs Benedict, while its wider menu also includes pizzas, brunch dishes and desserts.

The New York location is therefore the next step in a Croatian food story that began in Zagreb and is now entering one of the world’s most competitive food markets. Boogie Lab says its New York story is only just beginning, with the fuller concept of food, drinks, music and an evening atmosphere still to come.
