How to Make Obatzda Oktoberfest Muffins

The recipe for the Oktoberfest muffins (or cupcakes) is pretty straightforward and you can mix all ingredients by hand. It’s pretty easy and you can vary the ingredients and instead of salami maybe use some pepperoni or you can add a bit of grated cheese, some herbs … lots of options for personal adjustments!

The Secret Behind the Dirndl (traditional dress)

I am getting a lot of comments about the traditional dress that I am wearing in most of my Oktoberfest videos. This dress is called a Dirndl (pronounced like deer-n-del).

It has three components: The blouse, the dress, and an apron. Now, the bow of the apron actually holds a secret that most foreigners are not aware of. The position of the bow of the apron gives away some information.

If the bow of the apron (Schürze) is on the right side (perspective of the woman wearing it), it means that she is married or in a relationship. So you better not flirt with her unless you want a beer glass hit your head! The bow on the left side signals that she is available.

Wearing the bow on the back could have several meanings: The woman is either a widow or a waitress or from Austria where it is always tied in the back. Also, children have the bow tied at the back.

Lastly, the bow tied in the center front means that the woman is undecided or doesn’t want to give away her relationship status. One more thing: We have special dirndl bras that make the cleavage look better. Those bras are not very comfortable and kind of an extreme version of a push-up bra.
